Abstract

Studies on the correlation between growth characters in Bambusa bambos revealed that there is significant correlation between height, girth, number of total and new culms. On the other hand, seed size has no correlation between any of the growth characters. The positive correlation between characters makes the plus clump selection and genetic improvement programme easy. The investigation also showed that there is no significant juvenile-mature correlation for any of the traits mentioned earlier. The possibility of utilizing the early tests in Bambusa bambos is also discussed in detail
