Dr Donald James has received several fellowships, including the Marie Curie COFUND postdoctoral fellowship, the INSA Visiting Scientist fellowship, the IUFRO Scientist Assistance Program award, and the ITTO Freezailah Fellowship. He was a SERB-National Postdoctoral Fellowship at the CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, before joining KFRI. He has more than 25 publications to his credit. He is an editor for several journals, including Frontiers in Plant Science, Frontiers in Genome Editing, and PLOS One. His research interest lies in the genetic improvement of clonally propagated plants, including teak, sandalwood, and bamboo, to enhance disease resistance and climate resiliency through conventional and new breeding technologies, such as genome editing.
