Dr.Sreekumar has extensive research experience spanning over two decades; his works encompass floristics, plant systematics, phylogenetics, ecological restoration, phenology and seed dispersal. His expertise extends to palms and bamboos, and he extensively worked in the forest areas of the Western Ghats, Northeast India and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He has been involved in several research programmes funded by UNDP, DST, National Bamboo Mission, Kerala State Forest Department, Chhattisgarh Forest Development Corporation, Kerala State Biodiversity Board etc.. He serves as an expert member of several advisory committees like INBAR, IUCN, and BIS, demonstrating his commitment to the sustainable management and conservation of plant resources. He is the coordinator of the Bamboo Technical Support Group, the National Bamboo Mission, and the government of India.
