We are proud to announce that the Dr. C. Chandrasekharan Memorial Endowment Award 2025 has been awarded to Mr. Nithin Divakar, Ph.D Scholar at the Kerala Forest Research Institute.
Mr. Nithin was recognized for his pioneering work in bat ecology, including the conservation of the endangered Salim Ali's fruit bat and the successful launch of "The Fruit Bat Project"โa citizen science initiative connecting public participation with scientific research.
The award ceremony, held today at the KFRI Auditorium, Peechi, was a celebration of scientific excellence and the enduring legacy of Late Dr. C. Chandrasekharan.
The ceremony, held today at the KFRI Auditorium in Peechi, commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. T.V. Sajeev (Chief Scientist), followed by the Presidential Address delivered by Dr. Kannan C S Warrier (Director, KFRI). Dr. V. Anitha (Senior Principal Scientist & Research Coordinator) then gave an introductory speech honouring the memory and contributions of the Late Dr. C. Chandrasekharan.
The gathering was addressed by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) B. Mohan Kumar (Ex-Vice-Chancellor, Arunachal University of Studies & Research Council Chairman, KFRI), who delivered the Memorial Lecture.
Following the lecture, the award was presented to Mr. Nithin Divakar, who subsequently presented the highlights of his research work. The function concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. V. B. Sreekumar (Principal Scientist & Convenor, Endowment Committee).
