National Training Program for IFS Officers Inaugurated at KSCSTE-KFRI
A one-week compulsory national training course for Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officers commenced today at the KSCSTE - Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI), Peechi. The training program, titled "Enhancing Resilience: Evidence-Based Strategies for Mitigating Human-Wildlife Conflict," is sponsored and funded by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, and is being held from August 10 to August 14, 2026.
The training program and keynote address were delivered by Dr. Pramod G. Krishnan, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Kerala Forest Department. Dr. Kannan C. S. Warrier, Director of KFRI, delivered the presidential address.
Dr. A. V. Raghu, Senior Principal Scientist & Head of the Extension & Training Division at KFRI, welcomed the gathering. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. K. A. Sreejith, Principal Scientist & Head of the Forest Ecology Department at KFRI.
Senior IFS officers from across the country are participating in this intensive five-day in-service training course. The technical sessions scheduled through August 14 will focus on evidence-based mitigation strategies, scientific research applications, innovative technological interventions, field experiences, and policy frameworks to address human-wildlife conflict effectively.
