  • Selection of plus trees and genetic improvement
  • Studies on breeding system parameters and gene flow
  • Tissue culture and low-cost micropropagation technology
  • DNA barcoding
  • Population Genetics using dominant and co-dominant molecular markers
  • Marker assisted selection
  • Association mapping for adaptive traits
  • Molecular diagnosis of genetic disorders

Departments

Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding Department, KFRI

Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding

The Department of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding focuses on genetic improvement, genetic diversity assessment, reproductive biology studies, DNA fingerprinting, and gene flow. The department conduct research on major timber species, seed sources, and genetic diversity in Indian teak. The department also analyze genetic variability in invasive species and phytochemical analysis.
