The Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) and the State Medicinal Plants Board (SMPB) have jointly established a help centre for farmers interested in medicinal plant cultivation.
This 'On-call Help Centre & Farmer's Library' was launched formally on 16th February 2021 by the former health minister of Kerala, Smt. K. K. Shailaja.
This facility will enable farmers to seek expert advice on issues related to medicinal plant cultivation. The centre would also help generate awareness among the general public, students, stakeholders, and industries on medicinal plants, their importance, and conservation.
Farmers can contact the centre at 0487 2690333 for information on medicinal plant cultivation, agro-techniques, pest and disease control, government schemes, planting material sourcing, etc. The Centre will attempt to provide authentic information and guidance in consultation with experts in the field and offer technical assistance in preparing projects, programmes, and schemes related to farming.
