The Department of Wildlife Biology, KSCSTE-Kerala Forest Research Institute (https://wildlab.in/home/), is conducting the fourth edition of a three-day comprehensive workshop on "Bat taxonomy, ecology, photography and conservation" from 06th to 08th March 2026 at KFRI, Peechi, Thrissur.
Through this workshop, the participants will learn taxonomy, acoustics, ecology, project designing, conservation priorities, networking and fundraising for bats. In addition to the classroom sessions from the experts, the field-level hands-on activities are expected to deliver a deeper understanding of bat sampling techniques, taxonomic identification through skull morphometrics, photographic techniques, and collection and analysis of acoustic data using popular software. Participants will also be able to handle the equipment used for bat research and the specimens and photographs to develop their identification skills. Not yet over, there will be an optional field trip too for the interested participants!!!
his workshop is open for college students, researchers and teachers (maximum qualification as Assistant Professor) from zoology/wildlife science/environmental science and related backgrounds.
