Celebrating International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem at KFRI

We marked the day with a deeply engaging expert talk on "Mangroves as Part of Blue Carbon Ecosystems" delivered by Prof. (Dr.) C. George Thomas, former Chairman, Kerala State Biodiversity Board. His presentation highlighted the vital importance of mangroves in coastal resilience and carbon sequestration. 🌊📊
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. P. Balakrishnan (Scientist, KFRI) and was formally inaugurated by Dr. Kannan C. S. Warrier, Director, KFRI.
To spark student engagement and build awareness on mangrove biodiversity, we hosted a Mangrove Crossword Puzzle Game! 🧩
🎉 Big congratulations to Mr. Jithu Das P. P. (Research Scholar, CAIK) for taking home the 1st Prize! 🏆👏
The proceedings wrapped up with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Soorya (Scientist, KFRI).
Let’s continue to protect, restore, and value these vital coastal guardians.
