We are thrilled to wrap up the 4th edition of the National Workshop on Bat Taxonomy, Ecology, Conservation, and Photography, held from January 6 to 9, 2026, at the Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI).
The Department of Wildlife Biology, KFRI hosted 40 dedicated young researchers from various states across India for this intensive four-day programme. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Kannan C.S. Warrier, Director of KFRI, marking the start of a deep dive into bat research and conservation.
We were privileged to have the sessions led by a distinguished global faculty who shared their invaluable expertise. Our gratitude goes to Inga Geipel, Pipat Soisook, Balaji Chattopadhyay, Balakrishnan Peroth, Rohit Chakravarthy, Sreehari Raman, Nithin Divakar, Baheerathan Murugavel, Rakesh Khanna, Dharshan S., and Cecilia Montauban for mentoring the participants and making this edition truly world-class.
Thank you to everyone involved for contributing to the future of bat research in India!
