Has two decades of research experience in KFRI. A doctorate from National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, he has specialization in plant tissue culture and currently working in plant tissue culture, molecular markers and genetic transformation. Under his research leadership KFRI has developed micro propagation protocols for several important forestry and Rare Endangered and Threatened species. His special interest is in developing low-cost tissue culture techniques.

Currently the Co-ordinator of the Bamboo Technical Support Group ( BTSG -KFRI) involved in popularization and scientific cultivation and utilization of bamboo and dissemination of information through the Bamboo Information Centre ( www.bicindia.org )

Academics and profession:
Main research interests are micropropagation of forest trees and medicinal plants, cost reduction in tissue culture through use of simple bioreactors and photoautotrophic cultures. Other interests are in DNA barcoding, Germplasm collection and conservation, Certification of bamboo planting material, Management of bamboo nurseries and plantations.
