Environment Day Celebrated at KFRI’s Velupadam Field Research Centre

The Velupadam Field Research Centre under the Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) observed World Environment Day with meaningful activities focused on forest conservation and awareness.
The event was inaugurated by Varantharappilly Grama Panchayat President Smt. Kalapriya, who also distributed forest saplings to mark the occasion. Dr. V.B. Sreekumar, Chairman of the FRC Advisory Committee, presided over the function.
Delivering the Environment Day message, Mr. Ratheesh P.D., Forest Range Officer, Palappilly, emphasized the importance of ecological responsibility and planted a sapling as a symbolic gesture. St. Joseph High School Headmaster Mr. Jophi also addressed the gathering and extended his greetings.
Dr. Siljo Joseph, Scientist-in-charge of the FRC, welcomed the attendees, and Technical Officer Jinesh V.C. offered the vote of thanks.
A major highlight of the day was the visit of hundreds of students to the Field Research Centre, providing them with valuable exposure to environmental science and forest conservation efforts.
The programme reflected KFRI’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness and community engagement at the grassroots level.
