In celebration of Reading Day 2025, the Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) joined hands with educational institutions to promote the joy and power of reading among young minds. Two meaningful events were held at HSS Peringode and St. Alphonsa Public School, with KFRI scientists participating as chief guests to inspire students on the path of knowledge and discovery.
At HSS Peringode, Dr. Sreejith K A, Principal Scientist at KFRI, inaugurated the school’s newly formed Reading Clubs. In his address, Dr. Sreejith emphasised the transformative role of reading in developing intellectual curiosity and shaping scientific thinking. He encouraged students to explore books beyond their curriculum, highlighting how reading fuels both academic success and personal growth.
Meanwhile, St. Alphonsa Public School welcomed Mr. Arun V. R., Junior Scientist at KFRI, as their Chief Guest. Mr. Arun delivered a motivational talk on how reading opens doors to innovation and lifelong learning. Urging students to build a habit of daily reading, he called books “the first step toward becoming a scientist or change-maker.”
KFRI’s participation in these celebrations reflects the institute’s strong commitment to promoting science education and a culture of learning. Reading, the foundation of knowledge, is central to nurturing future researchers, thinkers, and environmentally responsible citizens.
As we mark Reading Day 2025, KFRI renews its mission to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity through the written word, laying the groundwork for a more informed and imaginative generation.
